Here are my first week's assignments. I got hit hard with the realization that I need some serious help with line quality and control. I still use my wrist a lot so I need more practice using my whole arm, it just feels a bit unnatural at the moment! But I've realized that you get so much more control when you use your whole arm so that's what I'll be practicing a lot more.

For the second part, I don't think I got anything 100%. I spent waaay too much time on this haha. However, I learned a lot about color and value. I didn't know that saturation actually affects the value a lot. Hue, saturation, and value have such a relationship that even a small change in one can affect the other. It's cool but a little daunting when it comes to trying to learn color theory lol. Any thoughts are welcome!

You did really well here! You realy have to squint to find some differences there, the most clear ones being saturation.

For now it's good enough for you to get wet on these concepts and tools, just knowing they exist and their rough relationship is good, there will be much more on regards to color theory in later terms, where these points will be expanded on more.

Hello!! Here are some results from week two! I feel like I struggled the most with understanding the figures. I'm still not sure how to place the head, ribcage, and pelvis boxes, but I'll keep up the practice and get it eventually haha. All feedback is appreciated! Thank you all for the warm welcome!

Oy you did good with these. That scene looks great, it's hard to tell what was photoshopped in!

Boxes all look good, for now the important part is to get the general idea of gestures and how the spine defines motion along with extremities. Might want to attach the spine to the head box though, since it starts from it's edge. Try to follow the neck into the back of the head.

Hallo again|! While I'm still working on week 2 assignments, here are a couple from this week 3!
I struggle a little with gesture drawing because I panic a little bit when they're timed, but I'm working on that haha. Something I'm focusing on when I do gesture drawings is making sure I understand the line of action (still in progress). I need to work on not panicking lol.

I learned a lot from trying to "copy the lineart of other artists" assignment for week 3, and chose artists that I really look up to. This took me sooo long and some frustration haha. The top Loish copy was the most difficult for me to get to a place where I was okay with it. I also haven't studied faces for a while so it was difficult to recall what I've already studied. They aren't perfect but I'm proud of myself for getting them as close as I did. Learning gesture right now also helped a lot, I tried to think about the movement of the artist's pieces. The artists I copied from are listed under their work, but i'll put them here as well (my handwriting isn't always legible)

Yo, really nice work! A good part of doing these exercices is to try to get into the mind of the original artist so you can grasp how they did some of what they did, to get the "Essence" so to speak, and eventually to apply it in your own work. And I think you did so really well! There obviously some differences, but the end results look really close to what the originals did.

It's nice you added the name of the artists references, it helps us if we want to go and look for more work from them, though don't worry about using them. Using references for studies is standard practice.

That is very nice work. It looks like an interesting challenge. The gesture drawings look pretty good. The last two artists, I've never heard of. Their artwork looks pretty good.

Thank you! I like their work a lot, I've been following SamDoesArts for a few years now, but only recently discovered Hicham's work. I definitely learned a lot from this challenge!
