Had some time to test out a basic idea. Probably gonna still push the proportions some more and play more with the shapes. Also anatomy needs A LOT of pushing still. And he might need eyes
This looks sweet will be interesting to see how you create an engaging design around his backstory
Alright adjusted some proportions and put in some more anatomy stuffs. He also has eyes now! Still a lot to adjust before I dive deeper into his skin details. Especially the head needs some adjusting before I am happy with it. @MisterWolfen Also thank you man yeah hopefully it will be interesting :3
Was playing around with some other head types, I think I will push C a little more alien and keep going with that. I like B but it's a bit too generic imo. What do you guys think?
like the eyes of A, the shape fits the neck quite good
A looks good with D's mouth and nose area.
Alright so I played around more with A and C and scrapped the others basically taking into account the mouth and nose area @nicococo mentioned (ty btw for commenting). I don't dislike 1, but 2 looks more advanced/sentient imo because of the human features. 1 is interesting, but probably not what I will be going for in this project.
Slowly working the upper body. Hopefully tomorrow I can make a similar pass on the lower body and head and then start designing some of the hard surface parts before going onto the 3rd pass on the body. I really want to try keeping a gentle giant aesthetic to him. I want to give him a peaceful look, not really threatening but slightly creepy. Hence the very human anatomy but elongated limbs. Hopefully this gives me an easily relatable creature in the end ^^
Great progress! Nice sculpting on that chest. Keep it up.
Alright did some head and legs. Gonna do one more pass on the main body before moving on to the Hard surface parts. Just because I want some more wrinkles/unevenness (if that's a word) around the body to fit the body more. Was thinking more about the character, since I wanted a wise type of alien I looked at old shamans and Mongolian people. Still needs some polishing, but that'll be once I have the hard surface parts at least designed. Also might still decrease the amount of wrinkles on the top of the head and neck, at least push them back a bit more to create some more intended focus.
Made some more pushes here and there. A couple more passes needed to complete the body. For now I will start designing some hard surface parts. The body is subdivided so I can still make smaller proportional changes if I find them necessary without losing detail.
I was not disapointed. Some great sculpting here!
I digging the feel of the thin skin on top of muscles. really nice sculpt.
Nice dude! my only point would be to think about how he expresses his feelings and thoughts as far as the face is concerned, but either way looks great so far (those E.T fingers! haha). Looking forward to your progress
@fantasymaster Thank you! @shuma Thanks :3 @aveon Thanks man! I don't quite understand what you mean on the face... He has a pretty human face, with the muscles and bones, what do you mean how he could express his feelings and thoughts? If you could elaborate or explain a bit better I'd appreciate it
It was more relevant when you were still deciding the anatomy structure of the head, so I mentioned it in case you weren't settled on your current anatomy for the head v('u' )v
@aveon Ohhhhhh hahaha ok now I get it, like as a help to settle on a face, you imagine the expressions and so. That's a neat trick, might try that on the next character to see how it affects the design process :3 Thanks for clearing that up
great sculpting and some nice ideas! but the feet don't fit, somehow. maybe it's because you unified human feet with animal hooves in a kind of strange way. they are very bulky compared to the rest.
Still trying to settle on the hard surface design. Still need another "clothy" part for the upper part of the body. Also thinking of a ornamental kind of crown for him. Since I don't want a helmet, but I do want something of hard surface on the head if that makes sense. @maxloegler Hey thanks for the feedback man! Yeah I agree, at first I thought the bulky feet would suit him because of this height, but the more I look at them the more I dislike them. Will probably move them towards something longer and skinnier like the hands, I think it would look better.
yeah, a crown would suit him quite well. looks cool, like a boss!too bad, that all the nice body sculpting is hidden beneath the hard surface waiting to see, how you will solve the feet.
