I really don't know the direction of the cylinder is correct or not.
but this practice make me think about the perspective of hands and feet.

Draw the blue baselines on the photo of model and measure proportions directly and then draw the model according to the baseline measurement, may I know if this practice is effective or not?

From everything I have heard most artist don't recommend using a grid when it comes to measuring proportions. You clearly already have a lot of skills so I would say how you go about it depends on how difficult the measuring is for you. Here is what I did for practice when I first started with measuring.

I feel like this is a good comprimise between grid and no grid. I had a line set up to show me the 8 heads that a character is tall so I could think about the different sections. But I didn't have a full grid to rely on where to put each piece exactly. I found this method was really helpful for me personally. Then when I started the art feedback Marc suggested that I take away the grid compley when I was comfortable. I think if you use a full square grid you may not be getting as much value from the exercise. Anyways I hope this was helpful! I don't know how difficult is is for you as your skill level is already high! Keep it up!

Hello, Lockenheim, your practice is pretty nice and the proportions are so accurate!
May I know how long have you been study here?
I think full of grid on it will make it more easy and fast, but just like you said not be getting as much value from exercise.
I may try your practice method.

Personally, I don't like the grid method for use in digital arts and especially if your goal is to learn. I feel like the main point of this exercise is to show you a good tool when drawing from life. While drawing the grid on top of the reference helps copying the reference, there's not much benefit over simply tracing it.

However, if you wanted to make an accurate copy from a photo in a traditional medium, the grid would be the way to go.

The main reason I don't like using a grid is because it takes away a lot of the observational skill required while drawing.

All in all I would say this lesson is more of a "nice to know" and less something that you'd practice daily anyways.

I'd echo you don't need the grid. Your gestures are really good, try building the form around them, even if it doesn't look precise. I have a gut feeling your style will develop out of that.

Ok, I would try not to use grids in my practice, I should spend more time practicing measuring body proportions, because it's little difficult for me without any girds.

It's a bit difficult to draw nose at any angle, I need more study later.

I have been doing art and studying here for about 8 months now. To get feedback from marc there is a feedback option upgrade in his cube brush store. So I believe you need the full course and feedback option.
