Thanks for that feedback, this painting was a lot of work and stress, and I realised my tablet's colour profile was quite off compared to most screens and way too saturated/bright.

I may have got lazy but it wasn't an easy subject and I didn't want to stress myself out by pushing to hard to get this one perfect.

I sorted out the colours in the painting and although I researched liquid effects as Leeireo suggested I prefer to just finish it and move on for now. (but I'll still take the feedback into account for future work)

Also I just threw the environment together without much thought, I'll probably do some more studies before I think I can do them properly.

Anyway, here's the finished piece, not perfect, and far from the best I think I could achieve in the right mind frame, but finished:

I absolutely love the effects with this it looks so cool! This reminds me of a comment I saw on the art station forum a while ago by artist Anna Podedworna. She has several works that have an effect like this and someone in the comments asked how she studied it. Her comment was "I credit the rise of slime fad on instagram for that. Literal millions of photos and videos of people playing with and throwing goo." I dont know if I can link to to art station on cube brush forums or if thats not allowed. But its her Strixhaven art might be right up your alley!

@Lockenheim Thanks! I'm sure I can find it if I have a look. And thanks for the recommendation, I'll definitely check it out.

On a different note, I started doing some drapery studies. They're not great but I'm going to start treating them similar to gesture drawings, learn to understand the shapes that folds make, and improve at painting while I'm at it. Feedback appreciated

Great job! This work is very commendable. You've gone out of your comfort zone and tried putting in a lot of elements into the artwork and testing things out. I can see you going very far as you keep on progressing.

I may have contributed to the cause of stress you have felt so I apologize for that. I do admit I have overdone it with the criticism, which wasn't even good criticism mind you haha. Just me trying to explain things that I don't understand. It's always been something that's been in my mind. Like If I should criticize people even if I don't understand the concept fully, but I digress.
It's important to not stress over it so I'm glad you stopped before the tipping point.

Can't wait to see your future artworks!

Thanks, and yeah it was quite far out of my comfort zone.

Don't worry about your criticism being the cause of stress, it was a difficult subject for me and that was the main contributor there, your feedback was helpful and I agreed with all of it, the effects did need work, and so did the values of the piece.

It was a good learning point for me too, knowing when to stop on a piece before you crash is probably a good thing hahaha.

Another daily cloth study. Still not easy, but definitely getting used to the shapes a little bit. I think number 2 came out quite well.

Will probably post compilations of multiple days after this one for less clutter, and will mix in parts of actual clothing on people. But if anyone has feedback or tips on how to pick this up or study cloth better please let me know!

I've just finished up an art trade with a friend, we had to redesign each other's characters from when we were young.

I think I went a little overboard in some areas, like the effects, and I pushed myself with a weird pose but overall it was a fun painting. Although I definitely need to practise more on faces and facial features. I did manage to slip a couple of skull studies into the painting process though

I didn't spend too long on it, maybe 8 hours over 2 days, but here's the result. Feedback and criticism appreciated ^-^

Did a bunch of loose sketches and decided to develop one of them further, really starting to be able to enjoy the process again. Haven't felt like that artistically since I was young, it's good. feedback appreciated ^-^

I know I've stopped posting here as frequently, but here's some sketches and practises from the past few days, trying to focus a bit on finding an art style and my own flow.

I spent a long time just thinking about the rules to follow I forgot to have fun, so these were all an exercise in finding that again too.

I'm not sure if you've watched the video on YouTube or not, but the instructor of Drawabox re-recorded a video about this exact subject if you would like to take a look at it! I think it was called change in mindset and the 50/50 rule? I'm not sure, but typing that in will most likely lead you to the video.

Maybe you already watched it and that's why you're trying to rediscover the fun of art again ahaha.

There was an art challenge on twitter to design a character based on a certain type of mushroom, so I designed a character based on the "inky cap" mushroom. This painting is still a work in progress but any feedback to help me go forwards with it would be helpful ^-^

Really starting to get a better feel for this I think.

Oh wow it's been a while since I've been here, and about 5 months since I've done any art at all. Hoping to ramp things up gradually again, there's a lot on at the moment but I still want to improve and not give up!

I might be slow to start being active in this forum again. But I'm just going to take it easy and not push myself too hard.

For now, here's a few quick painting things I did today.

A few studies. I studied a reference from an artist who's style I like. And followed it up by referencing photos fom some online clothing retailers.

Thanks! And it is Kan Liu, the first study is directly referenceing one of his works. However, when trying to do more studies in the past couple of days has been a struggle because of the heat.
