  • Thank you! I finally cleaned that up. Meanwhile started 3 more ..I have a habit of taking too long to finish a piece, then I lose interest in it and just start something else. I found 8 from recently i started and abandoned, that are decent enough to not delete, but not finished. There’s also been a number of drawings I felt I “outgrew” - became better before I finished them, and it would be easier to start from scratch than fix them. Anyone else thinking that?
  • Lady Death Fanart Collectible: Part 6 Polypaint and base Hi, it’s time to share with you another part of the process to create this fanart piece. Polypaint As this is my first collectible fanart I didn’t have previous experience with polypaint so I tried my best and played a bit with it.I wanted to give a ghostly and eerie look to Lady Death, she is beautiful and deadly, but at the end of the day she is a woman that died and was reborn at hell as an avenging spirit, that’s why I gave her skin tone a bluish very cold tone.As you will see I gave myself some creative freedom to deviate from the traditional color scheme that this characater has in comics and illustrations. To add a bit of sensuality by painting some freckles on the face and the chest. The dark nature of this character was the perfect excuse to gave her a kind of goth make up, very dark shadows around the eyes, blue lips and fingernails. I know that the original character includes sexy red lips but I wanted this girl to have a sexy but at the same time creepy look, that’s why we can see some thin veins emanating from her eyes. The biggest chromatic change I did for this character is at the hair. Lady Death has a characteristic white weavy hair but in my fanart I decided to gave her a very saturated blue color. The reason behind this wasn’t only an aesthetic choice. I want that the face area strongly pulls the attention of the viewer so this area needed a stronger contrast. Another reason is that I want her to have a more modern look, as I mentioned before, I’m strongly attracted to women with goth/punk look. I gave myself half an hour or more to analyse the work of experienced sculptors that create collectibles and I discovered that the use of darker values on the skin is often applied to create a greater sense of volume and three-dimensionality. I found that areas with heavy ambient occlusion are the perfect places to paint with darker colors in order to increase the separation between different forms. Even though she has a bluish skin tone, I used a bit of warmer hues in areas that, in real life, tend to go towards red and pink, this is very obvious in the nose, cheeks, and knuckles. Thinking with a logical mind it’s completely absurd to have warmer tones on the body of a zombie like creature but I didn’t want to limit myself by using only blue tones, it looks boring and artificial. In real life these colors are created by blood vessels in areas where the skin is very thin. ** Scythe **for her weapon I applied a cool gray with some warmer variations, this color scheme is influenced by the work of H.R giger. Base I’d like to talk about the design for the base which, to be honest, I forgot to develop along with the character. My main idea with the base is to show that Lady Death inhabits a very sterile and arid land, at the end of the day she is at hell. You can see a that she walks over dirt and rocks, a sign that she’s surrounded by death and loneliness. As part of the landscape we can see some bones and skulls to reinforce the idea of lack of living creatures, yet we can see three hands that try to reach her legs. This hands represent that all creatures are subordinated to her power and seek an evil blessing with a simple touch of the princess of the damned.1- The hand with skin burns represents the souls of those who are newcomers to hell, tortured souls that suffer for the sins comitted on earth.2- The hand with greenish rotten skin and pustules is the reminder of the decay that has infected the souls of those who have been trapped and have forgotten their humanity3- Last but not least, the hand of a demon shows that even dark creatures and entities bow before her presence. The cherry on the top, at least in my vision, are the simese twins that emerge from the ground, this malevolent creatures remind us that in hell there’s only perversion and any trace of innocence is lost. Thanks for reading till this pointI’m really happy to be very close to finish this creative journey, last but not least it’s mandatory to talk about splitting the sculpture in several pieces to be printed, this will be my last entry before showing the final rendered images. See yaMay Zbrush be with you

If the problem persists would you guys just proceed like usually

I've tried different browsers, even different machines and I still find myself getting stuck on the crop stage. Hopefully this gets figured out.

Hey all, we are aware there are a few issues left with certain browsers, we're working on fixing all those this week but even if you don't get it to work, no worries.

If you have a thread on the forums and have updated your first post with your final images / Marmoset file, you're all set. We'll look at every single topic next week and submit them manually ourselves.

If you really want to submit it using the new system, here's what you can try if all else fails:

  • Go to the main contest page and delete your entry, then submit again (the cropping bug affects only the updating of entries)
  • If your thumbnail is black, try uploading a new image saved with different settings (try PNG or JPG, saved at 10 quality max)

I’m stuck on that page too, the cropping unfortunately.

hey hey  the issue I was having, after having a look in the inspector, was a conflict with the 'cors policy'. I'm not gonna claim to know what that is in any shape or form, but I managed to get around it with this:

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/moesif-origin-cors-change/digfbfaphojjndkpccljibejjbppifbc/related

here's a description of the problem I found:
'Same Origin Policy is preventing the response from being received due to the originating/receiving domains being different due to the port numbers'
and through whatever means, once you install and turn on this plugin everything was dandy

Hi guys! My thumbnail doesnt loading well, it lugging on the upload. Is there some way to upload it right on a portrait zone? Because it doesnt wat and show ust a black corner of the image( I tried a 3 times(

@r4yl The submitting process is not mandatory. As long as you updated the first post of your topic with your final work your entry will still be considered.

@Lil_G I'm not sure if you fixed it, but your thumbnail seems to be showing fine for me. However, as long as you updated the first post of your topic with your final work your entry will still be considered.

I change category by mistake and I think my submission went to the old 2D Art Challenge, how can I change that?
And how can I make the thumbnail?

Same probleme, here.
After cropping, "next" button does nothing.
Tried to turned of Adblocker, and restart the process. DONT DO iT!
"Submit Entery" button disapeared.
Maybe it's a coincidence, but it's weird.

@jeanphilippe-hugonne I moved back your topic in the proper category. As for the thumbnail you'll need to use the ''submit entry'' button. It will allow to pick which pieces you want as your final entry and then make a thumbnail out of them.

However it is not madantory to do so as there are some bugs with the submission process. So if it doesn't work for you just make sure that you update the very first post of your topic with your finished work and your entry will be considered submitted.

@cedricgo Thank you very much.
For some reason I don't see the entry button  but maybe it's because I'm in europe and it's setup to disapear after midnight from the IP?

@CallMeNaka If the button doesn't work just make sure you update the first post of your topic with your final images/marmoset file and your entry will be considered. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you for your fast reply!
*First post updated.

I think I changed my category . before the update first topic it was Forum /ART WAR/2D but now Forum /Art Challenges/ART WAR 2D there is old art war topics. I cant not fix it help please

I'm having the same problem as most everyone else, it seems. It got hung up at the thumbnail creation (in Firefox). I tried Chrome just to see and didn't have a "submit entry" button at all. When I switched back to Firefox and reloaded my entry page, the button disappeared in Firefox too! Well, I edited the first post of my thread with my entry so hopefully that'll get found. Thanks to the mods for all their hard work on this!

@ens.mlk.yldz I moved the topic for you :).

@geikou don't worry, no entry will be lost  Good luck in the competition!

I deleted my post on the contest page because the thumbnail was terrible, but now we can't submit anymore.
I'm not worried, as you said you would be scouting the forum to find every submission. But I just wanted to be sure deleting my post on the contest page AFTER the deadline wouldn't screw me

Hey I made an edit in my archive.
The submit button was gone but I just edited the top posts so the judges could see it, so that should be fine. However, I am just seeing that Cubebrush had just compressed my final illustration and made it smaller. The original size while uploading was 4000 x 2792. On upload it was less than the dimension benchmark. Is this a problem? Can I send the files or should I fix it myself somehow. I don't want to be considered a "late submitter" as I finished this morning before the deadline.
