- Thank you! I finally cleaned that up. Meanwhile started 3 more ..I have a habit of taking too long to finish a piece, then I lose interest in it and just start something else. I found 8 from recently i started and abandoned, that are decent enough to not delete, but not finished. There’s also been a number of drawings I felt I “outgrew” - became better before I finished them, and it would be easier to start from scratch than fix them. Anyone else thinking that?in24.6k
- Lady Death Fanart Collectible: Part 6 Polypaint and base Hi, it’s time to share with you another part of the process to create this fanart piece. Polypaint As this is my first collectible fanart I didn’t have previous experience with polypaint so I tried my best and played a bit with it.I wanted to give a ghostly and eerie look to Lady Death, she is beautiful and deadly, but at the end of the day she is a woman that died and was reborn at hell as an avenging spirit, that’s why I gave her skin tone a bluish very cold tone.As you will see I gave myself some creative freedom to deviate from the traditional color scheme that this characater has in comics and illustrations. To add a bit of sensuality by painting some freckles on the face and the chest. The dark nature of this character was the perfect excuse to gave her a kind of goth make up, very dark shadows around the eyes, blue lips and fingernails. I know that the original character includes sexy red lips but I wanted this girl to have a sexy but at the same time creepy look, that’s why we can see some thin veins emanating from her eyes. The biggest chromatic change I did for this character is at the hair. Lady Death has a characteristic white weavy hair but in my fanart I decided to gave her a very saturated blue color. The reason behind this wasn’t only an aesthetic choice. I want that the face area strongly pulls the attention of the viewer so this area needed a stronger contrast. Another reason is that I want her to have a more modern look, as I mentioned before, I’m strongly attracted to women with goth/punk look. I gave myself half an hour or more to analyse the work of experienced sculptors that create collectibles and I discovered that the use of darker values on the skin is often applied to create a greater sense of volume and three-dimensionality. I found that areas with heavy ambient occlusion are the perfect places to paint with darker colors in order to increase the separation between different forms. Even though she has a bluish skin tone, I used a bit of warmer hues in areas that, in real life, tend to go towards red and pink, this is very obvious in the nose, cheeks, and knuckles. Thinking with a logical mind it’s completely absurd to have warmer tones on the body of a zombie like creature but I didn’t want to limit myself by using only blue tones, it looks boring and artificial. In real life these colors are created by blood vessels in areas where the skin is very thin. ** Scythe **for her weapon I applied a cool gray with some warmer variations, this color scheme is influenced by the work of H.R giger. Base I’d like to talk about the design for the base which, to be honest, I forgot to develop along with the character. My main idea with the base is to show that Lady Death inhabits a very sterile and arid land, at the end of the day she is at hell. You can see a that she walks over dirt and rocks, a sign that she’s surrounded by death and loneliness. As part of the landscape we can see some bones and skulls to reinforce the idea of lack of living creatures, yet we can see three hands that try to reach her legs. This hands represent that all creatures are subordinated to her power and seek an evil blessing with a simple touch of the princess of the damned.1- The hand with skin burns represents the souls of those who are newcomers to hell, tortured souls that suffer for the sins comitted on earth.2- The hand with greenish rotten skin and pustules is the reminder of the decay that has infected the souls of those who have been trapped and have forgotten their humanity3- Last but not least, the hand of a demon shows that even dark creatures and entities bow before her presence. The cherry on the top, at least in my vision, are the simese twins that emerge from the ground, this malevolent creatures remind us that in hell there’s only perversion and any trace of innocence is lost. Thanks for reading till this pointI’m really happy to be very close to finish this creative journey, last but not least it’s mandatory to talk about splitting the sculpture in several pieces to be printed, this will be my last entry before showing the final rendered images. See yaMay Zbrush be with youin1.5k

Woohoo, new posts here:D
You said that Drez's outfit seems too samuraiish... From what you've shown it doesn't remind me of the samurai. Maybe there is a resemblance with the Harad people from lotr (which i think would work well) but that could be just because it's so vague still...
I can't believe how loose/shetchy the dwarf is and yet he is alreday so defined! I love it! And since i am far away, i dare to say it (i wouldn't say it to his face), his nose seems odd, as if it was broken...
Already so much detail ready for his armor and stuff! So much cool stuff in one painting... I am learning just by watching your steps in creating this:)
Really looking forward to seeing more!
Thank you very much for the support Rokdem!
Yup I thought it was too samuraiish at the time I made it, but now that I look at it, it isn't that obvious anymore. I'll have to define it anyways.
Aha, and yes I took another approach for Kreggan, this time I had the rough drawing you saw in the group picture, but I didn't decided to redraw it like the other but I tried to do a blank silhouette other the lines and see how it would work, it made him a bit more stylised at the begining but my concentration was on the big shapes. I guess he will become a bit more "realistic" with more colors and details/values like Drezz now. I'll have to flip the portrait to see what's wrong with the nose, thanks for noticing. And don't worry, he is a fierce warrior but a very kind and humble person.
I don't really have a process or steps, I just go with the flow but I'm happy it is helpful for someone else.
So far, my "process" for these was to do:
- rough sketch of the pose without clothes for all the characters
- think about the costume
- refine the anatomy drawing under it
- flat skin colors under the lines
- start painting in colors directly under the lines
- start refining the painting over the lines
- adjust with layers and masks for lighting scenari like in Eva's portrait
- sketch costume ideas over it.
- next we'll see
Thanks again Rokdem!
Thank you, I did that with brush strokes yes, I use the brushes of Bastien Lecouffe Deharme and Peleng but these strokes were done with one brush If I remember correctly. And yes the rest will definetly get the same attention.
I have been working on an another character (a god) for a Dnd Homebrew campaign for someone else (I have to do 7 characters for him ) and I hope I'll be allowed to show him because he is quite cool right now.
Thanks!

Hello everyone, I hope you are doing good?
I apologize for the lack of updates, I have been been busy with tons of little commissions in october and then did and completed the Artstation challenge "Beneath the Waves" in the character design category
Here's the thread for WIPs, story, description etc... Here I won't post the pictures directly there because they are quite big for the submission but all is in the link.
I hope you like them, I had a lot of fun doing them and I learned a lot.
Also I wanted to have more sci-fi work for my portfolio because I am mainly working on fantasy projects but I love both.

Hello there,
I hope you are all doing fine, I have been very busy, and totally forgot this topic.
If you want to see what you missed since last year, I have a proper portfolio website now:
Here
And some on my instagram as well: Here
I allow myself to directly post the links since I don't want to drown you with 50+ pictures of illustrations, sketches and commissions. But i'll try to keep this topic updated when I can and directly post on it. I have been recently hired to 40+ portraits of NPCs for tabletop rpgs, and If I am allowed to post them, I'll do that here. I'm also working on my most ambitious personal illustration with an environment and multiple characters since it is lacking in my portfolio, I'll post some sneak peeks here as well.
Until then, thank you very much for your interest and have a nice weekend.

Hey there, it has been a while!
A crop of a big Symbaroum (Check it out if you don't know that pen and paper RPG, it is great) personal illustration in the work inspired by a scenario we played a while ago... It isn't even a third of the complete picture for now.
My portfolio was lacking big complete illustrations so I have been busy on this one between client works.
And before you ask why the woman, Kelva, has no clothes on her top, she was a changeling shapeshifter witch who could turn into beasts and she'll have animals skulls on her belt, furs and of course arms aha. Same for the guy, Derkan, he'll have legs, he's not a ghost, this is still an early WIP but I hope you like it and that you are intrigued.
Comments and critics are obviously welcome, even at this early stage.
Thank you for your time!

Hello!
Here are the first two revealed NPCs portraits (out of almost 50) I did for the RPG "Knight" in crowdfunding here:
https://www.gameontabletop.com/crowdfunding-154.html
There's an option to have your own PC, NPC, Creature portrait by me or even yourself in armor!
And some portrait illustrations I have done for some of the staff in meta-armor working on "Knight"
The last one is an autoportrait. I hope you like them !

First of all, Happy New Year and best wishes!
First personal sketch of this new year.
Here is my interpretation of a female Changeling of the Symbaroum universe with a little lovecraftian and 20ies influence. I like the idea of mixing these two universes that are close to my heart, maybe a personal project to explore for this new year...
I often do these kind of research / sketches but I do not post them, would you be interested if I posted more of these and more often?
