Still sketching, not a lot of progress on the last foot assignment though.
The perspective is messing with me and its really hard to get it right. There's also the smaller forms which distract me and make it harder to get the overall perspective.
I also managed to get an old mini-camera from my dad to take picture with, its practically perfect.
Sketches while on the train:
First sketch started off being drawn from imagination then on the right quickly looked at some reference on how artists draw the brow ridge for draconic/reptilian characters. After that I went back to imagination. Usually I just need to look at something for a little while to internalize its features and stuff then draw it a couple times and after that I can basically draw it from memory.
The remaining two pages are purely imagination. The draconid holding the sabre ended up looking like Princess Ember from MLP, which is funny since haven't even seen the character all that much let alone seen the much of the show. I find that stuff I draw from imagination ends up being a mish-mash of stuff I've seen throughout my life.
Last one is my attempts at drawing the infant and child stages of the draconid species. and it turned out alright, despite never drawing an infant or child once in my life. The adult draconid is just an interpretation how a recent mother of the species would look with her offspring, as well as having a size comparison between the two. There's also the beginnings of a 2nd egg behind her as I was planning on putting some clothes on her and a backpack egg carrier.
There's a lot of unwritten lore about this species that I have and I really should start writing it down at some point.
I do have a question before the next post: Is nudity in an academic context ok? I know NSFW content is not allowed but there's 2 more pages of my sketchbook where I try to map out the location of the organs around the pelvis with the addition of a reptilian tail. Its not terribly detailed, just rough sketches to show how things would look like. There's Cross-sections, Sagittal and posterior views.
