  • Thank you! I finally cleaned that up. Meanwhile started 3 more ..I have a habit of taking too long to finish a piece, then I lose interest in it and just start something else. I found 8 from recently i started and abandoned, that are decent enough to not delete, but not finished. There’s also been a number of drawings I felt I “outgrew” - became better before I finished them, and it would be easier to start from scratch than fix them. Anyone else thinking that?
  • Lady Death Fanart Collectible: Part 6 Polypaint and base Hi, it’s time to share with you another part of the process to create this fanart piece. Polypaint As this is my first collectible fanart I didn’t have previous experience with polypaint so I tried my best and played a bit with it.I wanted to give a ghostly and eerie look to Lady Death, she is beautiful and deadly, but at the end of the day she is a woman that died and was reborn at hell as an avenging spirit, that’s why I gave her skin tone a bluish very cold tone.As you will see I gave myself some creative freedom to deviate from the traditional color scheme that this characater has in comics and illustrations. To add a bit of sensuality by painting some freckles on the face and the chest. The dark nature of this character was the perfect excuse to gave her a kind of goth make up, very dark shadows around the eyes, blue lips and fingernails. I know that the original character includes sexy red lips but I wanted this girl to have a sexy but at the same time creepy look, that’s why we can see some thin veins emanating from her eyes. The biggest chromatic change I did for this character is at the hair. Lady Death has a characteristic white weavy hair but in my fanart I decided to gave her a very saturated blue color. The reason behind this wasn’t only an aesthetic choice. I want that the face area strongly pulls the attention of the viewer so this area needed a stronger contrast. Another reason is that I want her to have a more modern look, as I mentioned before, I’m strongly attracted to women with goth/punk look. I gave myself half an hour or more to analyse the work of experienced sculptors that create collectibles and I discovered that the use of darker values on the skin is often applied to create a greater sense of volume and three-dimensionality. I found that areas with heavy ambient occlusion are the perfect places to paint with darker colors in order to increase the separation between different forms. Even though she has a bluish skin tone, I used a bit of warmer hues in areas that, in real life, tend to go towards red and pink, this is very obvious in the nose, cheeks, and knuckles. Thinking with a logical mind it’s completely absurd to have warmer tones on the body of a zombie like creature but I didn’t want to limit myself by using only blue tones, it looks boring and artificial. In real life these colors are created by blood vessels in areas where the skin is very thin. ** Scythe **for her weapon I applied a cool gray with some warmer variations, this color scheme is influenced by the work of H.R giger. Base I’d like to talk about the design for the base which, to be honest, I forgot to develop along with the character. My main idea with the base is to show that Lady Death inhabits a very sterile and arid land, at the end of the day she is at hell. You can see a that she walks over dirt and rocks, a sign that she’s surrounded by death and loneliness. As part of the landscape we can see some bones and skulls to reinforce the idea of lack of living creatures, yet we can see three hands that try to reach her legs. This hands represent that all creatures are subordinated to her power and seek an evil blessing with a simple touch of the princess of the damned.1- The hand with skin burns represents the souls of those who are newcomers to hell, tortured souls that suffer for the sins comitted on earth.2- The hand with greenish rotten skin and pustules is the reminder of the decay that has infected the souls of those who have been trapped and have forgotten their humanity3- Last but not least, the hand of a demon shows that even dark creatures and entities bow before her presence. The cherry on the top, at least in my vision, are the simese twins that emerge from the ground, this malevolent creatures remind us that in hell there’s only perversion and any trace of innocence is lost. Thanks for reading till this pointI’m really happy to be very close to finish this creative journey, last but not least it’s mandatory to talk about splitting the sculpture in several pieces to be printed, this will be my last entry before showing the final rendered images. See yaMay Zbrush be with you

Bienvenue.
I'm SUEÑO, a business student with a dreamy overworld. I'm a hobbyist artist struggling with motivation, but I hope to reignite the spark I once had. I've always had vivid dreams for as long as I can remember; they are my ultimate source for original ideas, either for fan art or for original work, which is why I go by this name. I ended up stumbling upon this place, so I've decided to come here to work on my art skills as well as develop more of my original content.

A bit about me.
I've been drawing since I was two and doing digital art since 1st grade, but over the years. my natural progression has halted a bit. It's brought a lot of frustration and tears, but I just need to take it one step at a time to return to the swing of things. These days, I specialize more in sketching and working with graphite. It brings a lot more enjoyment honestly! I occasionally do so digital art, but I have to be in the mood for it lol

As someone with ADHD (not finding out until a year ago), my perception of things was always very, very different, and it was reflected in all the drawings I did as a child. I grew up drawing a lot of strange pictures based on my favorite video game series, like Mario, Sonic, Smash Brothers, and much more, but people enjoyed them. I didn't start creating original characters until high school (because I had a really weird thing for having an exclusive focus on my favorite characters). Now I have a plethora of characters, but I just need to get them out of my head and on to paper!

Some of my art!
I'll warn you, I'm a huge fangirl of the character Sora from Kingdom Hearts, so a lot of the examples will be about him, but I do have some other types of stuff to show!

The last major graphite work I did. Made this on 5 October 2017. Wait, it's already been almost a year!?

Here's where the weirdness settles in. I have an AU called GODSEND inspired from a KH theory of Sora being the Soul of KH. To abridge it, Sora has a KH fragment inside him and the two, under the right circumstances, can merge together, resulting in The Will of Kingdom Hearts! I call him Sorakami. These are some doodles I've done inspired by music.

Here is more of what I do now. This is also GODSEND work, but it's a work in progress. I'm developing this method of art so I can still post works, but without the long wait caused from graphites. PS: the proportions look better in RL but my phone camera is kind of garbage. :expressionless:

Here's one of my original characters!! Inspired by a very close international friend who has become my beloved. This is Fleur Venimeuse, one of my "dreamy magical girls" (I do dream of magical girls). She's an assassin-styled fighter who can manipulate venom, but over time, she comes to serve a wicked god-like entity who changes her. I have so much about her that I've developed with my beloved, but I'll get to that in future posts!

My goals for this 'blog'
Now that you have a better idea of how I draw, I want to expand more on the "dream" aspect of my being. It's something that I harp on so much, but I have much difficulty illustrating what I see (other than characters!). Incredible worlds, crazy events, and very mystical moments. This place looks to be very good in regards to community and critique. I love receiving critiques! Please don't be afraid to doodle on my works to further emphasize your points; the more direction, the better!

I hope you all enjoy what's to come!

Hello SUEÑO! Nice to meet you and welcome to cubebrush

There's a lot of awesome people art posting really inspiring art here, so I hope it will help you find the inspiration you seek and achieve your art goals. I'm looking forward to see you post more of your work as what you posted already looks very promising. I especially like Fleur Vénimeuse with her intricate costume.

Keep drawing!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! I'm very happy that you liked my art! I definitely look forward to developing myself through this site and speaking with wonderful people like you. <3

Alright! I recently finished this last week (as of the time of this post), and it's a character I saw in a dream! This isn't the dream diary entry where this girl appeared, but I thought I would share. This is also the newer method of illustration I'm developing to not sink so much time in between posts.

I saw her in my dreams back in May. Originally, she and another girl were orphans taking shelter in a strange large, abandoned factory. She was approached by a strange entity, eventually becoming a follower of this being. That part is related to a story I'm working on with my beloved, but I won't touch that unless necessary, but it's why she's now adorned in a mask.

She had blonde hair, tan skin, and red eyes. Sometimes I can't remember their names, but when a word keeps turning in my head over and over again, it's the name I give them, and that name was Hilda.

Her outfit concept was much like how Fleur's was made, but being inspired by Russian clothing and steampunk attire this time around. I didn't see her use any powers in the dream, so I gave her a dual-edge staff that can turn into machetes or daggers. I hope to see her again in future dreams to better determine her powers or other aspects of her character.

I used a figma poser to help me pose her, but I KNOW that there's something wrong with that left arm and hand! I don't know how to fix it, so if you know how, let me know!

I hope you all enjoy!

I find your artistic process so interesting. The way you use the things you see in your dreams to create your artwork is just so fascinating to me.

As for that last character, I think I can help you. For the arm, I think it's very minor. I'm not quite sure how to explain it, but the folds of her sleeve follow the upper arm, but when you bend your arm like that they should follow the forearm curve. That probably doesn't make much sense, so here's an example of what it could look like.

I also think that the leg she has lifted looks a bit strange. I think it's because of the placement and its lenght. I made a quick draw over of the anatomy just to show you how I would change it. In red is the outline of the original and the black outline shows the change.

I hope this helps you. Beyond that, I think you have another really nice character design with pretty interesting little details. Nice work!

Oh my goodness!! I knew this site would be just what I needed!

This is the kind of direction I seek to improve. Thank you very, very much for your kind words and your direction! Maybe I can remake that area with the tip you've given me. The lines on the leg are very helpful!

I definitely have some more concepts on the way soon!

You're welcome! I'm really glad that I could help you in some way

I'm already looking forward to see those new concepts!

10 days later

Hello, everyone! I return to bring you some thumbnails I've done on an area I visited in my dreams back in June. This place was known as the "Subconscious Terminal."

It was a very large place with the sound of giant air vents echoing through the whole building. The ceiling had this "industrial" look to it, with lots of fans and lights covering it. I think the overall shape was circular, but there were a lot of hallways with shops and such. It was like an airport, but it worked as a subway station.

In the middle was this really bizarre structure. It was like a cake, and you can walk on it. It was set up like a park, where it had grass, trees, flowers, and even flowing water. The water flowed off in small waterfalls. I couldn't accurately redraw it here, but it looked something like this.

Towards the top floors, there were gateways to these said subways, and they lead to different parts of my dreamy overworld and even to wake up! The destination read "waking world" or something like that. The trains had reversible tracks for some reason. They also had long glass windows that reflected the night sky.

I remember as I was feeling myself wake up, I was boarding the subway that would do so.

So yeah! What to do you all think?

That sounds like such an interesting place! The amount of details that you managed to get out of it is amazing. I think that it would make a great setting for a game or a movie. The first thumbnail sets the scene so well.
