@fuulin Really nice image adjustments. I like how near you came to the original on the 4th exercise. On the combining images one the lightning is off as you already said, but also I would add some more atmosphere to the castle and maybe to the mountain in the background
The concep overall is pretty nice
- Thank you! I finally cleaned that up. Meanwhile started 3 more ..I have a habit of taking too long to finish a piece, then I lose interest in it and just start something else. I found 8 from recently i started and abandoned, that are decent enough to not delete, but not finished. There’s also been a number of drawings I felt I “outgrew” - became better before I finished them, and it would be easier to start from scratch than fix them. Anyone else thinking that?in24.4k
- Lady Death Fanart Collectible: Part 6 Polypaint and base Hi, it’s time to share with you another part of the process to create this fanart piece. Polypaint As this is my first collectible fanart I didn’t have previous experience with polypaint so I tried my best and played a bit with it.I wanted to give a ghostly and eerie look to Lady Death, she is beautiful and deadly, but at the end of the day she is a woman that died and was reborn at hell as an avenging spirit, that’s why I gave her skin tone a bluish very cold tone.As you will see I gave myself some creative freedom to deviate from the traditional color scheme that this characater has in comics and illustrations. To add a bit of sensuality by painting some freckles on the face and the chest. The dark nature of this character was the perfect excuse to gave her a kind of goth make up, very dark shadows around the eyes, blue lips and fingernails. I know that the original character includes sexy red lips but I wanted this girl to have a sexy but at the same time creepy look, that’s why we can see some thin veins emanating from her eyes. The biggest chromatic change I did for this character is at the hair. Lady Death has a characteristic white weavy hair but in my fanart I decided to gave her a very saturated blue color. The reason behind this wasn’t only an aesthetic choice. I want that the face area strongly pulls the attention of the viewer so this area needed a stronger contrast. Another reason is that I want her to have a more modern look, as I mentioned before, I’m strongly attracted to women with goth/punk look. I gave myself half an hour or more to analyse the work of experienced sculptors that create collectibles and I discovered that the use of darker values on the skin is often applied to create a greater sense of volume and three-dimensionality. I found that areas with heavy ambient occlusion are the perfect places to paint with darker colors in order to increase the separation between different forms. Even though she has a bluish skin tone, I used a bit of warmer hues in areas that, in real life, tend to go towards red and pink, this is very obvious in the nose, cheeks, and knuckles. Thinking with a logical mind it’s completely absurd to have warmer tones on the body of a zombie like creature but I didn’t want to limit myself by using only blue tones, it looks boring and artificial. In real life these colors are created by blood vessels in areas where the skin is very thin. ** Scythe **for her weapon I applied a cool gray with some warmer variations, this color scheme is influenced by the work of H.R giger. Base I’d like to talk about the design for the base which, to be honest, I forgot to develop along with the character. My main idea with the base is to show that Lady Death inhabits a very sterile and arid land, at the end of the day she is at hell. You can see a that she walks over dirt and rocks, a sign that she’s surrounded by death and loneliness. As part of the landscape we can see some bones and skulls to reinforce the idea of lack of living creatures, yet we can see three hands that try to reach her legs. This hands represent that all creatures are subordinated to her power and seek an evil blessing with a simple touch of the princess of the damned.1- The hand with skin burns represents the souls of those who are newcomers to hell, tortured souls that suffer for the sins comitted on earth.2- The hand with greenish rotten skin and pustules is the reminder of the decay that has infected the souls of those who have been trapped and have forgotten their humanity3- Last but not least, the hand of a demon shows that even dark creatures and entities bow before her presence. The cherry on the top, at least in my vision, are the simese twins that emerge from the ground, this malevolent creatures remind us that in hell there’s only perversion and any trace of innocence is lost. Thanks for reading till this pointI’m really happy to be very close to finish this creative journey, last but not least it’s mandatory to talk about splitting the sculpture in several pieces to be printed, this will be my last entry before showing the final rendered images. See yaMay Zbrush be with youin1.5k

@peter-hartnett Thank you!! You're right, let's just pretend there's another sun somewhere to the right haha. I tried to research for screen protectors but couldn't really find anything for my model (very old wacom lol). I might look into nibs though, I think paper nibs have a nicer feel.
@bowzertron aw thank you! I didn't pay much attention to the composition or perspective here, just did everything by ear but I'm glad it doesn't look totally wrong haha
@patmast, thank you by atmosphere do you mean add more clouds? Or maybe a bit of fog? Now that you say it I think having some fog would be nice...
I made some small changes based on the feedback, hopefully this is better now:
Next up....
4 - Selections, Liquify, Healing Stamp
The second one is especially hard since the lighting are pretty different in the two pictures so the effects weren't as obvious as I wanted, only made Pharrell look as old as he should at his age hahaha

The last one didn't take long but the result was quite interesting for me!
@joosy, thank you! I'm glad there has been improvement
@peter-hartnett hahaha I'll take that as a compliment? I personally think they are all cute!!
I finally got around to the Nude drawing tutorial. I've only watched the video halfway and only had time to do the first 4 exercises. I'll probably do some more of the first 4 and the rest after I finish watching the tutorial~~
For the pelvis and hip joints I draw them mostly just by what feels right, not really sure how to pin them down at the exact location. Any tip would be appreciated!
By the way where do you guys get your reference poses from? I use quickposes.com but the quality is pretty inconsistent and I had to filter through a lot of weird or boring images lol. A nice consistent library like the one used in the video would be nice to have!
Hey Fuulin, Do you know any place where I can buy the cat from your last post, he looks rather cute
I think it gets easier to identify where you can place them once you have a better understanding of the skeleton and how the muscles originates and inserts. For placing the oval shape along the right axis for the pelvis, In front and side view I look for the iliac crest and the ASIS, In back view I look for the Iliac crest and the PSIS. I also use them as guides when trying to figure out the location of the Greater Trochanter (the Joint), which also can be seen on the surface.
Regrading the photos used in the video, you can buy them from either here at cubebrush or proko.com. Proko also has a video that you can watch called "Landmarks of the human body" were he will briefly mention them at the end of that video.
Hi again @n00bwolf ! Thanks for the great comment, I wish I could understand them but I think I need some more research and practice before I can . Thanks for the tip too, I think I'll stick with the free ones first, will buy the photo pack once I've used them up
I decided to do #4 again but directly on photo ref. I think the poses I chose are really difficult for me so any critique would be much appreciated...
Some additional practice on my phone during work lol:
@fuulin hey Fuulin, wauw you've uploaded so many drawings. Its really inspiring to see. Also your photoshop assignment with the castle is looking absolutely bad-ass. I like the composition and its captivating. Nice! Keep it up and I'm hoping to see more!
Hey @Ardeey you're way too kind as always . Thank you!
It's not easy to remember to practice everyday and work's been pretty busy lately, but I will try my best to upload regularly.
Here are some gestures finally (top half is 30 secs, bottom half 1 min). I'm putting the date on top of the page hoping there will be clear progress:
Decided to go back to the cylinders today, not sure if they're better than the last one but I did put in a bit more thought here, and I feel like they're more accurate:
22 days later
@Frog thank you my man!
I've been a bit lazy with my gestures, just want to get the rest of my assignments done too before the new Term comes out .
So here goes -- some new assignments I've been accumulating since the last post:
Nude figure drawing - Assignment 7: Drawing full figure from reference
I realized it's not very accurate after finishing

Nude figure drawing - Assignment 4: Skeleton from imagination
Did this one on my phone . I decided to go one step further and tried to draw the full body from the skeleton too, pretty sure I messed up some proportions here oh well
.
And finally...
Perspective 1 - Assignment 1: Finding vanishing points, convergent lines & horizon.
