Day 26: Box, Farm Witch.
With magic, anything can happen, so here's a witch farming boxes. Design inspired by Woonyoung's delightful modern witch series, though when I went to go get that link I realised I'd confused her regular designs and the farmer witch designs - the farmers wear much more farmer-y clothes I wish I had seen beforehand, a lot more plaid and cute dungarees than I remembered. Should have been less lazy! Aside from that I'm happy with the expression and the shading, you can really feel that sun thanks to the strong hat cast shadow.
Day 27: Creepy Cook/Baker Witch.
Tried to go with the idea of never trust a skinny chef. Execution god-awful, was tired after spending so long shading the previous one I rushed into inking. Didn't even do a 2nd under-sketch in pencil, going with my first colour pencil pass which was just general forms. It was made even worse by the triumphant return of the brush pen. I don't know why I never learn to plan very carefully when I use it... I think it's because if i have spent a long time on various sketch layers I usually want to preserve detail, so I go with my thinner pens. I just have to decide beforehand to keep things big and broad.
Day 28: Burn, Goth/Punk Witch.
Much happier with this one, even managed to get low angle lighting to look ok on the face. My only issue is because I'm using hatching in various passes, it looks a bit like hair which is bad for a face. Still, probably not something I can solve without buying some shading Copics. I guess professionals know their value areas so can just do it in one shade pass to start with instead of building up like I did, which would make it more even. Could even outline the shading areas like I tried to a couple times (see: hands) to get a crisper look.
